What english study score am I looking at?

My scores for both units have been A+ (Unit 3: 89/100 and Unit 4 96/100)
I have done multiple full english exams and keep scoring an 8, 8 and 9.
If I scored this in the actual english exam, what study score would I roughly get?

Will depend a lot on how your sacs scale since for English they are 50%
8 + 8 +9 and doubled for double marking = 50/60

With full sacs (100/100 for both units) some years that is enough for a 45 but I wouldn't count on that every year. So you are probably looking at something between 42-44.

Does it help that I'm ranked second in my cohort (of about 150)?

Doesn't the actual score (out of 100) not actually matter, and just your ranking in the cohort? That's my understanding, since inaccurate/overly harsh marking by teachers would otherwise put a student at unfair disadvantage, but maybe I've been wrong about it. For example, wouldn't a Rank 1 with 90/100 be in the same position as a Rank 1 with 100/100 when going into the exam?

The scores I referred to (e.g. 100/100 was after scaling so they do matter) - marks before scaling don't matter - which from what you have said you obviously understand :)

and yes you are effectively correct that rank 1 on 90/100 is the same as 100/100 (given all other factors such as cohort strength are equal).

yes definitively! and if it's a strong cohort you will also have a better chance of a higher score.
