Goal ATAR

hey guys,

i知 just wondering if anyone knows what marks i would need to get for a goal atar of 95 and dream atar of 98 (probs not gonna happen) but i think a few of my subjects scale not great.

in prelims i got:
english advanced: 87.5
legal studies: 87
business studies: 81
society and culture: 93
maths general 2: 72.5
pdhpe: (im doing an accelerated subject so i知 doing the hsc course now) and i got 96 in the trial

also in better at assignments atm so hopefully that gets better..

Welcome to the forums goldoon!

So breaking down your goal of 95 with an atar calculator, you will probably need to get mainly low band 6's for all your subjects (or some higher band 6's and higher band 5's).

For 98: You will likely need considerable band 6's across your subjects - as in 93+. This is pretty solid, but do-able. Especially since your PDHPE results are looking mint! 

Remember too that the marks you receive at school are raw, whereas final HSC marks are aligned. Hence, plugging in your raw marks for these subjects at the moment is not likely to give you an accurate indication of what your ATAR will be.

Yeah it's really hard to say, as we don't know what you got in the external exams, or what your final mark for each subject is, but if these marks were your final marks, I would say you be short of 95. This is because your mark in general maths will pull you down significantly, and your business studies and legal studies mark will still put you below that 95 area. Although your PDHPE mark would be excellent, same as your society and culture (though both arent very high scaling subjects).

There's no way of knowing just how much those two subjects will pull you up, but you do want to wish that your final general maths mark is higher if you want to get a 95+ atar
