ATAR AND COHORT?

Hi,

I've seen many and many posts talking about having a strong cohort and bla bla bla. However, I'm not sure I get it. When you do your exam, your exams is compared to the ones of your school and then you'll get a study score and a final ATAR that give you a ranking in Victoria? is that right?

Thank you so much, any help is appreciated!

- Your exam score is calculated from how well you did on the exam compared to other people studying the subject
- Your SAC scores are calculated based on a) how well you did compared to other students at your school studying that subject b) how well people at your school studying that subject did in the exam

- Your exam scores and SAC scores are used to calculate your study score
- Your study scores are used to calculate your ATAR

So if you did pretty well compared to the rest of your cohort in SACs, does that mean that your SAC score goes up or down?
2018: English, Methods, Chemistry, Media Studio Art [49] Biology [41]
2019: Engineering (Honours)/Science @ Monash
ATAR: 96.10

if you did well compared to your cohort that's a good thing & results in a higher score

If you're at the top of your cohort for SACs and have the best exam, VCAA will make your SAC score the same as your exam score
