Access Melbourne scholarship?

Hi everyone!

So I had set my heart on going to Melbourne University to do a Bachelor of Arts and was really hoping that I could get some kind of financial aid. I completed a SEAS application and received a text saying I was eligible for Access Melbourne but have received no information about scholarships since results came out. I've seen a few people posting on social media about getting Access Melbourne scholarships so I'm starting to get really worried they haven't contacted me?? Does this mean I missed out?
If I didn't get anything from Melbourne, this complicates things a bit as I have received a really good scholarship offer from Monash.
FYI, I got a 99.85 ATAR.
It would be really good if someone could put my mind at rest.

2017 - Psychology ( 47)
2018 - Literature (50 + Premier's Award), French (45), Latin (35), Deakin Accelerate Psychological Science (5.0) ATAR - 99.85

2019 - Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts @ Monash University

It usually takes a while but my bets are they’re late or somehow you didn’t qualify (I hope it’s not the latter).  I remember hearing that you could check with Melbourne uni during the Change of Preference Day or give them a call. (Also sometimes it goes to spam/ promotional folders, so double check that in case.)

Thanks for your reply!

I already checked spam and promotions so I'm pretty sure nothing has come. I'm planning to go to the Change of Preference day and ask them about it, it's just a long wait since I'm so stressed :( It would be kind of weird if I didn't qualify since they already told me I was eligible for Access Melbourne based on SEAS.

I'm in the same boat! I got a message saying I was eligible for SEAS and didn't' receive a scholarship yet (I got 99.35). Have you received the scholarship offer yet?

Access scholarships are super weird. They take a bit of time to process. If you haven't heard anything yet, don't expect anything until early January—the university will have closed today, to reopen on the second of January.

Many congratulations on your excellent scores though. Achieving those scores is an outstanding achievement, made even more so by the fact that you both experienced adversity whilst doing so.

Well crap. I didn't receive any text or notification that I'm eligible for/am in Access Melbourne, even though I am 100% in a category (disadvantaged school). A couple of my friends already got scholarships. I don't mind if I don't get a scholarship, but I at least want to have significantly passed the ATAR requirement of 78 for my desired course, rather than slightly passed 85 :/

Honestly, as long as you get into the course (which, judging by your other posts, you’re in good stead to get a spot), nobody really cares what ATAR you got and whether you got under, approximately or above the selection rank (previously known as clearly-in ATAR).

Also, if you haven’t checked your junk/promotional folders of your emails, that’s something that might help. And I think there have been a few people who had multiple SEAS categories who still haven’t received any notices regarding Access Melbourne yet, although I would probably check when the university opens and call on the second day that they are to confirm this information.

Edit: According to this, disadvantaged school isn’t an eligibility criteria, however, regional or rural school and/or the applicant’s financial background is.

I qualify for basically all SEAS categories and still haven't got an email for Access Melbourne. Is the rumour true that they take longer for applicants with more SEAS?

I have got some scholarships from Monash though.

Fair enough that I'm not eligible for a guarentee, but at least I'm still in access melbourne. Are my chances still very high? Approximately what percentage of people wouldn't get an offer (despite meeting requirements and whatnot), and for what reasons?

Generally it doesn’t take much longer, but my guess (purely from speculation) is that the larger Year 12 cohort or something happening on either government or Melb Uni’s end has meant delays in everyone receiving notifications for Access Melbourne.

I don’t know about chances. Just that it’s significantly lower if you don’t qualify according to the eligibility criteria, which I linked to above. I don’t know about percentage of people who miss out after applying either. As long as you clearly meet requirements, generally you’ll get an acceptance notification. It’s usually those who aren’t clearly meeting requirements and the uni seems doesn’t qualify that don’t receive the acceptance notification.
