Purpose of Unit 2 Biology

So at my school they don't teach Bio Unit 2, saying that it won't pop up anywhere in the 3 4 exams. Is that true? Because it seems like a miracle that I only have to learn one unit this year and jump straight into the 3 4's.

Poor form by your school frankly. It's up to your school to ensure that you've met the competencies expected of a student in Unit 2, and by skipping the unit they're being deliberately misleading by passing students.

They're quite right that it's largely irrelevant to unit 3/4, but there is life beyond unit 3/4 that will be made much more challenging without that knowledge.

Hey
I think it's strange that your school decided to get rid of unit 2 bio. Unit 2 bio is all about genes and DNA and also about inheritance. While it isn't really present in the unit 3/4 course, there are topics about gene technology (PCR, gel electrophoresis) that are needed. If your school is not studying unit 2 then I suggest that you watch videos about gene technology or something just so you are not surprised when it comes up in unit 4.
Hope this helps
