QCE MODERN HISTORY Q&A THREAD

What is this thread for?
If you have general questions about the QCE Modern History course (both Units 1&2 and 3&4) or how to improve in certain areas, this is the place to ask! 👌

Who can/will answer questions?
Everyone is welcome to contribute; even if you're unsure of yourself, providing different perspectives is incredibly valuable.

Please don't be dissuaded by the fact that you haven't finished Year 12, or didn't score as highly as others, or your advice contradicts something else you've seen on this thread, or whatever; none of this disqualifies you from helping others. And if you're worried you do have some sort of misconception, put it out there and someone else can clarify and modify your understanding!

There'll be a whole bunch of other high-scoring students with their own wealths of wisdom to share with you, so you may even get multiple answers from different people offering their insights - very cool.

To ask a question or make a post, you will first need an ATAR Notes account. You probably already have one, but if you don't, it takes about four seconds to sign up - and completely free!

Do we have any idea how highly modern history will be scaled in the new ATAR system? It seems pretty full on, and I'm looking into doing a head start university course, but i'd have to drop modern to do this. Any advice?

Hey Bridget! Welcome to ATAR Notes. :)

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but no, there's no indication of how Modern will scale. In fact, there's no real indication of how any subject will scale! This is because scaling depends solely on student performance, so we won't know until the end of 2020. If you're interested, you can read more about how the system works here:

https://atarnotes.com/qce-system/

What's the head start university course you're considering? :)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with finding some notes on Modern History. I'm doing Modern History as one of my senior subjects and my exam is coming up soon. We are doing French Revolution and our exam is based on source analysis. Is there any notes that can help me out regarding this?

Hi all!

My Y12 Modern History IA1 (Source Analysis Essay) is coming up next week - it's concerning the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany, specifically - To what extent were the Nazi Party effective in indoctrination the Hitler Youth?. We are also looking at Youth Resistance groups - like the Edelweiss Pirates, etc.

Are there any body point that suggest they were effective?

THANKS!
Matt

Hi, was wondering if anyone could recommend any good books on the topic for the external (Australia's involvement in Vietnam). On a side note, how were you all planning on studying for this assessment considering it requires some non-conventional methods as opposed to other non-history subjects?

Hey,

I'm not knowledgeable about modern history so I can't help out with most of these questions but I am pretty sure that there's no annotated syllabus for modern history.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!
