Results Withheld

I actually had my 2007 ENTER score withheld from the school because I despise them so greatly and because they never respected me for who i was....

Yesterday, the school called me and my parents passed me a message that I received a call from them...

I was suspicious because why would the school call me? Its 2008, im not part of the school anymore....anyways, I emailed my fave teacher to enquire about it...

My fave teacher replied and said that the school wanted to publish my name and possibly my result in the school letter as part of the high achievers section...they knew I was a hard worker and knew I would get a good result but they don't know my actual result because it got withheld....

ANyway, here are the reasons my fave teacher gave me for why they wanted to publish my name in their newsletter....

-the school apparently faces criticism from a variety of sources that our VCE results are crap and that kids who go there would be better off elsewhere. Oh yeah, so that the public won't think the teachers are of bad quality (well of course!! the teachers there are so crap! Especially in the science/maths area...stupid teachers!!!)
-the primary school section of the school never supported the high school well when it comes to VCE results and tends to let bad rumours grow instead of arguing that its not true (hahaha!!!)
-so that Year 12 enrolments will go up (apparently this year, enrolments for year 12 are down by 20...meaning that the school is going to struggle economically to survive...)

Basically they want to prove the community wrong and say that our school is pretty good when it comes to VCE achievements and whatever so that enrolments will grow...so they want to put my name in that newsletter.

The school just can't handle the truth. THey will never become one of the best schools in victoria. they will never get more than 40% of their students doing university after Year 12.  Unless the school raises their standards, then they will never become one of the best schools.

I never called the school back. Up their ass!

Well, thats my rant for the day!

lol :D. If you hate your school, by all means, don't give them your results. But still, obviously you were able to get whatever score you did get while attending that school, it couldn't have been that big of a hinderance.

Opportunity cost: Think about how high she could have got :P

I support your decision squance. Let them face the truth, force them to improve, rather than let them free-ride off one spectacular student's results.

lol, that's true. Maybe you should tell them to publish what you got as well as what you would have gotten if you had good teachers :P

I disagree, seems a bit petty to me.  What are you trying to punish them for? Having a few bad teachers who you didn't get along with? I definitely think we could have had better teachers at my school, but there are some very good teachers who are always willing to help and I'm not going to hate the school as a whole due to a minority, and I'm not going to stop them from trying to promote the school because of some silly grudge.
... you said you had a favourite teacher, so they can't be all bad. Having the story published could be giving her the thanks she deserves.
I dunno, i just think it's good for some schools as a sort of morale boost to show the students etc. that you can go to a public school and still do well (don't know if you went to a public school)

Oops, I meant "how high" not "how how."

89.95 is good, and from the sounds of it: spectacular for your school. It is unfortunate that you were not able to make your first preference, and if you feel your school especially hindered your ability to achieve it, then you are certainly justified in denying them the bragging rights of your ENTER score.

i went to a private school...and i dislike the majority of the teachers there.

And my fave teacher? He teaches 7-10 maths. :(

If you don't like your school then just withhold it, there's nothing wrong with that.

My parents forced me to go to the school...and no, it wasn't the best in my area.

yeah good on ya! dun give them the results. its your property anyway, you don't have to give it.

it's not so much punishment, as it is holding back a benefit.

Having the story published could be giving her the thanks she deserves.
Why does it need to be in public though. Squance could just thank the teacher in private. That would be a lot better and more satisfying from the teachers point of view.

I dunno, i just think it's good for some schools as a sort of morale boost to show the students etc.

bottom line: your results, your property.

Is anybody else seeing that the best course of action would be to ring them and say you got like 30 or 40 and say you blame it entirely on them? That might get them to pull their heads out of their arses.
