Ok so this year im doing 3/4 Bio but don't think i'll do very well in it.
My current subject selections for 2020 are; English, Further, Psych, Legal, HHD
Should I just do 5 subjects or also pick up LOTE and do 6 subjects???

As in, do 7 total?

Would heavily recommend against that.

You can always wait until results come out to make your decision. In your position I would take 4 next year, and certainly not 6. So I suppose the answer to your question is '5'... or less!
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Im not a great English student so I'm worried it will negatively affect my ATAR hence considering a 6th subject to hopefully make up for that

Even if you do badly in biology it can still be a bottom 2 subject. I don't know what doing "well" means personally but for example, if someone is average in biology they get a 30 and that is perfectly fine for a "6th subject" as it is 3.0 aggregate points. Even being something like top2% in another subject ( a study score of 45) would only add 1.5 aggregate points (assuming it is still bottom 2).

I think doing only 5 subjects in year 12 would allow for more time into other subjects so you would be able to make up the loss of a couple of points on subjects by improving your top 4s.

If anything I would think about your 5 subjects and make sure you are picking your most strongest whilst also covering prereqs.
