G'day everyone!

When reading the Heinemann Chemistry 3/4 book, do you guys read literally all of it; i.e. the chemfile/extension passages, or just the 'content'?

The Chemfile and Extension snippets are usually not expected knowledge; they are simply interesting facts and/or examples that will help you better understand the practical side and real-world workings of the theory of what you're reading.

The Heinemann textbook for bio has the similar extension pages and I don't think I've actually ever read one (except if it looked interesting to me)... Whoops...

hahahahaha same! Or if I see a key term that has been bolded and it has further been explained in an extension. kinda like the pic I have attached talking about fractional distillation.

Given it is still the summer holidays I don't think reading outside of the scope of the study design is necessarily a bad thing. It only becomes detrimental if you are spending too much time doing it but having a quick read beyond vce chemistry level can be useful for properly bringing concepts together or/and giving context to what you are learning.

If you are properly studying for sacs/exams I would say it is more important to know the actual content.
