does anyone else feel so overwhelmed and unmotivated rn especially with remote learning? Today was the first day of school and I'm already behind with homework and my term 1 revision!!  :'(  I feel like my chances of getting a good ATAR are slowly slipping down the drain.

Look and take this seriously, put your A game on and you know you got this but the inner self of you isn’t confident. First of all stay ahead didn’t teacher give you a term planner for all your subjects?? don’t just flow with the teacher do the teachers work get that up to date then continue on your own on the next part/chapter trust me this is better and this causes less stress

I am in your exact position and legit I am behind in term 1 work as well, I myself feel like my chances of getting 90+ are almost gone. Yikes it scares me. Fear not keep trying and move forward.

My advice to you is so what you can and set yourself a small simple task. If you really cannot keep up with the work and that is me right now, you should ask your teachers for an extension on the work. I don't think they will be too fussed if you were a couple of days late. Do the work little by little, this is what I am doing right now and it is kinda working.

Hello!

How you are feeling is very, very normal. It can definitely be overwhelming to start working from home and feeling unmotivated is quite common in this situation. You can still get an ATAR you are happy with.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you at the moment and I'm working to row back to shore. Here's what I'm going to start doing to catch up:

- Making a to-do list of everything I need to do that day (in terms of school work).
- Making a few more lists for each subject including catch up work, set work and revision.
- Delegating these tasks listed into my day / week via a to-do list (make sure there aren't too many things on your to-do list - be realistic). If you wish, you could block these tasks into a study schedule, but it can be difficult to estimate how much time you will spend on a task.
- Following my school timetable, including doing work when classes are scheduled, lunch and recess for breaks for a routine.
- Chucking the phone on airplane mode, and downloading website blockers for distracting websites.

Some other things I'm going to do to stay sane(ish) while catching up on work:

- Taking breaks and doing fun things during them (my school has suggested for each break between classes we could do a challenge task such as learning a Tik Tok dance or building lego, drawing, meditating, going for a walk or run, reading some of a book etc.).
- Scheduling appointments with a psychologist / counsellor when feeling stressed / a bit under the weather. I'm going to start doing this as the reason I became off track in the first place was due to poor mental health. Just talking to someone you can trust might be helpful to mitigate some of the stress.
- Socialising with friends / family / pets

During this time, you might have to do a bit more work than usual to catch up, but it is possible to get to where you want to be. Good luck. :)

Also, something I picked up quite recent is writing a list of what you SHOULDN'T be doing in certain periods of time throughout the day.

Plus if you have to work on your digital device, set pop ups to remind you of these things.

Righty o' pick yerself back up
