Dark Templar, i know that you want to try and think deeply about this, but it's very simple.
In the VCAA papers they will ask you one of two things for this.

Learning a list of words:
* If tested right after, End AND Beginning of list will be recalled
* If tested more than 30seconds after, ONLY Beginning of list will be recalled.

Remember this, it's the only questions you'll get on it in multiple choice!

isn't it when your tested RIGHT AFTER that the recall of words at the end of the list is greater? :/

Yeah it is, but i was just saying that you RIGHT AFTER you can recall both start/end of list.
whereas if you delay the time between learning and recall, only the start can be remembered.

haha that's pretty smart, wouldn't have picked the possibility of maintenance rehearsal.

Although that being said i think what needs to be realised here is VCAA is attempting to test your recall of studies similar to these and the main findings behind these were that the recency effects were extinguished if there was a delay greater than the duration of the STM (18-20seconds).

edit: Also it can be argued the term "most likely" implies what would happen most of the time not, "well maybe if she repeated the list to herself for 10 minutes scenario".
