There's some pretty interesting questions in there, (at least the MCQs which I've looked at).

Q.16 may have not been serial postioning effect, Possibly may have been maintanance rehearsal, where he would only remember 7 bits of info, thus bringing items 1-7 home.

I think it refers to both STM capacity AND serial position effect - yes, he'll only remember about 7 bits of info, but he'll remember the first few and the last few.

It doesn't matter if he was using maintenance rehearsal because the serial position effect would have effected what items he was able to remember to begin rehearsing. So he still would have been repeating items 1,2,7,8,9,10 or whatever it was.

The middle ones would have been lost before he started using maintenance rehearsal.

Edit: I just realised that I spelled maintenance rehearsal 'maintainance rehearsal' from stress and feeling sick. Will they deduct marks for that?

Because everyone should spell everything 100% correctly with exam stress even if they are feeling sick at the time? Not even English penalises a spelling mistake if the meaning is clear.

but why did they have to fck with our brains saying 1-3 and then 4-7 when they coula went 1-7... Could it be like a techinique to trick us all into thinking that 4-7 was middle items?, so we would put 1-2 8-10 from experience with serial position effect? im worried now :S

I did the same as well due to the fact that they stated he repeated it in order. Therefore, I thought recency effect wouldn't apply.

It says he "tries" to repeat the list in order. I think this is the key to the question. She says the list to him, he remembers 1,2,3,7,8,9,10 then repeats those in that order on the way to the supermarket.

rececncy effect definitly applies in this case....there was no interference when he memorised the shopping list therefore he will remeber the start and end of the list...not the middle :)
