Hahaha, I just missed out on Dux of Year 11 and I presume I wasn't far off English Language. I got General Excellence (awarded to the top 10 students out of 240, which is bearable at our school), the prize for the highest promise in science in year 11 and the Physics award. If only I hadn't taken French... it brings down my grade average :(

I got specialist maths and physics sac prizes, by a very narrow margin. (Although there were 3 physics prizes)

Out of curiousity, who got Dux?

I got Classics, as well as two "Service" prizes - one for Oratory, and one for editting the school's publications.  Pretty happy, since they don't give them out for year 11 subjects at all apart from the "Year 11 Science Prize".  :p

There was a guy in year 12 who got eight prizes in total - one for each of his subjects, and a further three for various service to the school things.

And nice work @ /0 for getting Spesh.  You beat AL and stuff as well? :o  Also, lol @ TT's Methods prowess.

Lol yeah I beat AL in spesh sacs, but there was an 'overall' maths prize, and prizes for methods, spesh and further. Guess who got the overall maths prize?
And btw, prizes aren't all that... I think TT probably beat me on the spesh exam :P

I'm not sure who got dux, but I'm slightly annoyed that my epic-fail French results pulled me down. Again. Although last year, the fact that I almost failed sport probably had something to do with it too...

They don't give specific service awards at speech night (bar an overall one for each year level, and a handful for year 12), but we do have full and half colours. It was a bit strange though... none of the year 11s in music were given anything above half colours (and no one below year 11 received an award). I guess half colours isn't bad though :)

That sucks - at my school we had year 8's getting full colours for music! (they were scholars though)

Yeah, it's quite strange. Our year level's really enthusiastic about music, and we have the concertmaster, assistant concertmaster and the girls who usually act as school pianist (because our actual one's away a LOT), and yet no one got above half colours...

Haha, we've got a number of fairly random service awards (Library Service, Editting, Liberal Arts, Drama, etc.), but to compensate the only colours that really exist for anything are for sport, debating, drama and music, and pretty much only the very best/year 12s get them.  None of the committee colours or whatever that some schools have.  ;_;
