Hello everyone,

I am really interested in medicine and I want study biomedicine in The University Of Melbourne thus become a doctor in the future. I was wondering, what happens if I do not get the ATAR required to enter biomedicine which is 99.95?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you need an ATAR that high to get into biomedicine. you may be looking at the highest selection rank that they accepted instead of the median score that most people enrolled in the course got. Just checked and the guarantee for 2021 entry at least is a 95 ATAR so you should be fine. If you don't get that there are postgraduate pathways you can do with degrees other than Biomed. I've heard somewhere that in the future, Melbourne Uni is getting rid of pre-requisites needed to get into graduate med so all you need to do is sit the GAMSAT and you can virtually do any degree you want.. don't how much truth there is to this news so take it with a grain of salt.
2020 subjects:
3/4 English - 3/4 Methods- 3/4 chemistry- 3/4 Biology- 3/4 psychology

99.9: guarantee entry into post-grad med (obvs with a few conditions)
94.05+ you will get into biomed but you will need to get a competitve GAMSAT score and pass the interview

So GAMSAT is done only if I get 94.05+? The UCAT is still required no matter what score I get for the ATAR right?

UCAT is only for undergrad
UCAT would only be for Monash (VIC- u could always apply interstate)
After u get ur ATAR only a limited unis would let you apply with the UCAT and that will be undergrad direct entry to med
So once you get into uni- you will sit the GAMSAT
