plus some people get accelerated into a higher year level so that they can chose to do their vce in 3 years rather than 2. i had that option and i was about to do health, business and further maths next year as i was expected to finish in 2010, however i think i will get a good enough ENTER to get into my desired course. BUT the whole point of extending year 12 is so that you may add more subjects to your tally and hope your ENTER increases.

Wait, BHS?

Why would anyone repeat year 12 voluntarily?
2008: Geography [42] Revolutions [38]
2009: English [40] Literature [38] Psychology [36] International Studies [33]
ENTER: 93.75

Year 12 will be (kinda) a breeze since you already know everything its just like revising once in a while? As someone suggested is it better to do a semester course get high marks and switch?

I assume you meant Balwyn (I was in their accelerated class before MHS actually), but I know that University High and Box Hill also offer this. It's got its benefits, but the extra 3/4s which you do in year 10 rarely ever end up contributing at all to your aggregate at the end given that most people just can't take school seriously enough, or are just academically incapable of performing at a very high standard already in year 10. However, every year, there's a couple of people who end up with a 99 point something by the end of year 11, and either leave and go to uni or increase their ENTER the following year.

oh really? i see..

so if you ended up getting a worse ENTER on the second yr you do 12.........
you cant go back and have your old one back? lol

you'll never get a worse ENTER because you still keep all those subject scores you have...

You can end up getting a worse ENTER by repeating subject/s.

Whilst VTAC will use the ENTER Subject Score (scaled score) that gives you the highest aggregate, this will not always translate to the highest ENTER.

Quote from: VTAC ENTERbook
Aaron thought he would improve his ENTER by repeating three of his studies. In one case his study score remained the same, in one case it improved whilst in the third case it decreased. In all three cases his ENTER subject score decreased, so that his initial results contributed to his aggregate and 2003 ENTER rather than his repeated results.
It is worth note that Aaron’s 2002 scaled aggregate was 118.8 which yielded a 2002 ENTER of 59.55. Therefore Aaron’s 2003 ENTER was less than his 2002 ENTER.

cf a 2003 ENTER of 59.35

nah mine was weird. I was accelerated just 1 month into year 9 to year 10 with no warning at all.  I was given no special treatment or nothing just had to buy new books and went to new classes.

True. I'm personally trying harder than usual to avoid getting hit by a car. There's no way I am re-doing this year. Although I might be tempted if English is removed from primary four... =P
Raw Scores:
Psychology 50 | Mathematical Methods 49 | Further Mathematics 49 | Accounting 49 | Chemistry 44 | English 43
ATAR: 99.75

Actually, if she repeats the same subjects and she does worse, she will get a lower ENTER

lol guys- i have no intention whatsoever that i would want to repeat yr 12.  :uglystupid2:

What if you just repeat one subject? Would they fix your ENTER accordingly? I screwed probably my most important subject and my ENTER with it.

Viscom. Although the Exam is tomorrow, my SAC average + Folio's wont get me to where I want. I'd be down for re-doing Viscom and even adding on a new subject if my ENTER would be counted at the end of next year. I also have a fairly weighted SEAS app, but its pretty useless for the courses that require a folio presentation.
