My Very Evil Mother Just Sliced Up Nandos ?

For example, an acrostic to remember the planets in their correct order is My Very Evil Mother Just Sliced Up Nine People (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).

Good tips, but one error; Pluto isn't a planet anymore  :'(

I guess the story, loci stuff are for long term yea? As in years. I think just reading and remembering is sufficient for school (weeks or months)?

Smells can stimulate memory as well. ie writing notes with those aromatic pens =D and using those pens in the exam.

I just read something 4-5 times first whilst starting at it. Then look away and visualize the words and say them aloud with the meaning/context of the word in my head.

I think I have like half of a photographic memory but not, it's weird.

i think i have what you have !

Just write it over and over again, it will stick in your head.

Or use visual aids, mind maps? Or you can make summary/notes.

Everyone has their own ways that suit them.

I made up songs/rhymes that stuck in my head, lol. Especially for history, I still remember the mnemonics that I used for Australian History last year.  IPFCTCATIDM 112245-78910 (trust me its a song in my head...lol)

11)   If possible, go to sleep straight after your study session. This minimises interference and further consolidates the information you are studying.

Just going to reinforce when kat said above, this has always worked for me.
Either study before you sleep, or read over your notes before you go to sleep!
Like literally in bed read your notes and then go straight to sleep ~ works so well:)

I don't know about humanities subjects where you have to remember quotes, but all you need to do to memorize stuff in maths and science is to understand it.

I tried to keep a list of those memory techniques like mnemonics, loci, etc so that I could refer to it when I was finding it hard to remember something. But this whole year I have only used it once or twice, and even then they never came up in tests and I have long forgotten them.
