It's hard to say definitively whether a student or a teacher is better. There are good and bad in both categories, and it is also important that their teaching style matches with your learning style. It really comes down to how much you are willing to pay, and how well you can communicate with your tutor.

Ken, the important thing is that you have SOMEBODY having 1 on 1 with you (nooo, not sexually before people take it out of context =P).

Teacher.....student, no matter, as long as you have a MENTOR who is able to focus on YOU and your weaknesses that's whats most important.

Yes, a teacher has more experience, but then again the reaosn you're getting a tutor is because your TEACEHR wasn't adequate in the first place.

Student have gone through the system, and know the "cheats" to it. So yeah.

Many people haven't had tutors and have performed exceptionally well.

My parents are doubting student tutors even though they scored high. But they have a point since they can be smart but can't teach. I don't know though, seriously.

There's nothing guaranteeing that teacher tutors can teach also though. I've went through a few teacher tutors until I found a good one. Even just from school, you should know that most teachers out there aren't that great I guess.

A tutor shouldn't be a teacher. What you you should do is do as much work on your own as possible, and when you hit any rough spots consult a tutor.

certainly teaching experiences are very important, but its imperative to note that many high-scoring students do have experiences helping out others during their final school year and are extremely capable of teaching....It really depends on WHICH tutor you are referring to...just find a person that improves your grades loll..
well the limit can turn into a threshold..

EXACTLY what I mean, this removes the need to ask "which one's better" because so long as the teacher/student isn't your 24/7 person it wouldnt matter if they were teacher OR student

I didn't take any tuition help for any subject other than English and ironically it was my lowest raw score. Never went to any revision lecture either - they've got incredibly high prices and all that revision can be done just as well on your own at home.

You don't need tuition to do well - hard work, passion and self-motivation is all that is needed. Then again for a subject like English, it might be better to seek help with a family friend or actually get a tutor because you can improve when someone corrects your essays and provides you with feedback.
Raw Scores:
Psychology 50 | Mathematical Methods 49 | Further Mathematics 49 | Accounting 49 | Chemistry 44 | English 43
ATAR: 99.75
