made a thread so if your not sure if your answer will bet X marks.
others will have a shot at being the examiner and give you a score,
this helps both you and the person giving you the mark because they'll know what parts are needed for a question like that.

let me start :D.

VCAA 05 . not sure if my answer will get full marks, heres the case study.

Dave Rodgers, Manager of the Marketing Division at Hume and Weston Ltd, has been called by the Human
Resources Manager, Ms Wilson, to explain the high number of recent resignations from his department. Most
resignations have been from the younger graduates who have complained about the lack of direction, no sense
of belonging and no support given by Dave. Dave does not see a problem with the high staff absenteeism, and
would rather not discuss his department with Ms Wilson. Ms Wilson demands that he solve these problems
immediately.

5 Mark Question
1F) Recommend a more appropriate management style Dave could use to improve staff morale. Describe two
features of this style. Justify your choice.

My answer, word for word.

A more appropriate management style that David could use to improve staff morale is the 'participative style'. The participative style allows employees in the Marketing Divion to be part of the decision making process that Dave makes, hence increasing the staff morale in the Marketing Division. As part of that participative style, employees are able to ask questions regarding any concerns as the communication channel is multi-directional which allows employees to have a sense of direction. By incorporating this style, Dave is showing support for his employee and should solve the current problems in the Marketing Division of Hume & Weston LTD.

5 mark response or not?

You're probably better of simply emailing your teacher.

Buttt: just because communication is two way, doesn't mean that employees will necessarily have a sense of direction. You can be told what to do, and still have a sense of direction.
Also probably not long enough for a question which should take you 10 minutes to complete.
Other than that just check the assessment report/suggested responses. They're usually fine.

lol meh. 5 mark response from vcaa.
The consultative management style would be more appropriate in this situation. Features of this style include an open, two-way communication channel and decision-making by management after consultation with employees. The consultative style would solve many problems. Employees complaining of lack of support and direction from Rodgers would be helped as this style is known to be supportive and guiding for staff. Due to the open communication channels and a focus on teamwork, employees who lack a sense of belonging would be satisfied. This management style would assist Dave Rodgers in improving staff morale greatly.

oh well. time for another exam. insight 06 =='

You probably need to elaborate a bit more there as it is a five mark question, and also make it more clearer on what the two features of the style are.

6 mark question - 2007 VCAA, last question

f. Evaluate the positive and negative aspects of two ethical and social responsibility issues faced by Jerome Jones in this situation.

My answer:

Ethical and social responsibility refers to the ability of an organisation to act in a moral manner with concern for society at large, beyond that imposed on it by law.
An issue concerning this that was faced in this situation is waste levels. Excess waste such as oil spillages displays a lack of social and ethical responsibility due to the environmental impacts associated with it. A negative aspect surrounding this issue would be the large amount of negative publicity received concerning waste disposal. This would impact on the overall profitability of the organisation, due to the resentment of current and potential customers. A positive aspect concerned with this issue is the fact that Pacific Paint can easily dispose of any waste without any financial setbacks.
Another issue of this nature faced by Jerome Jones is the situation where redundancies need to be made. Since the introduction of the new technology, the human skill that was once required by the organisation is no longer valued or required. A positive aspect concerning this is that the organisation's productivity levels should rise due to the use of technology. However, a negative aspect associated would be the implication of the redundancies, leaving workers without a job. This could cause further resentment from  employees remaining within the organistion and decrease motivation levels as a result.

hmmph, 6 marks. i say defining is 1 mark,
identifying the two issues is another 2.
explaining two aspects of a negative and two aspects of the positive should be another 3? or 2?
if its two the remaining mark should be stating that
'Since they can dispose paint without any financial setbacks & implemented new technology, it should increase their profit levels and the dividends returned to share holders because they have reduced potential costs of disposing oil as well as using technology to improve productivity.

But I have some doubts about the last thing i just said. That would be pretty harsh to only give you 5 bu since BM is a competitive subject i reckon they would. IDK :S.

i feel like i'm ready in terms of knowledge of the course, but i think i will lose marks somewhere due to my wording of answers.. l've done a stack of practice exams (this is my only 3&4) but since it's BM, and there's barely any margin for error due to competition i'm not gonna get too confident..
