For each undergrad degree, approximately how many contact hours do you have per week?  Is this dependent on which subjects you do as well?

I think Science generally has more than Arts and it definitely does depend on the subjects you choose. Some subjects have 3 lectures and a tute as well as a 3 hour prac every second week (Bio) whereas other subjects may have only 2 lectures and no tutes.

Check out the Unimelb handbook if you're interested in the spread of hours, they've got the 2010 timetables up. :)

Wow.  That's not a lot.  Commerce must have the least then.

Ah good idea.  The handbook.  Didn't think of that, thanks.  The only problem is that I'm still unsure of what I'm going to do.  Gotta wait for the results.

If you are doing all the science subjects in BSc, then 24-28 hours depending on your breadth subject.

I guess B.Sc has a lot of content they want you to learn?  So you're at uni for most of the day each week?

Perhaps they want to introduce as much areas as possible (so you can decide what to major in).

And I don't think it's possible to get a day off in Science, maybe you could in Arts or Commerce.

I know science is right up there with contact hours, but I know the health sciences even have more contact hours. My friend who does optometry has around 23 contact hours.

For biomed i had 22 contact hours this semester and about 24 last semester. However Biol Pracs are once every 2 weeks, so some weeks it will be about 19 or so, and the day i didn't have prac i had a day off. Some people can compact their timetable so they have a guaranteed day off every week. Next year first semester i have about 16 contact hours or so, depending whether i have prac or not!
