I catch the bus to UoM, takes ~40 minutes during peak hour and about 20-25 any other time of day. I definately can't complain after hearing stories of where some people come from.

Car: 1.5 hours if stuck in peak traffic, 45 mins to an hour if not.
Too cheap to pay for petrol and tollway charges: drive to a station, train, tram. (30+45[30 if express train?]+15 minutes).

yeah i think theres a relationship between the distance from uni and the time u get to uni

the further away = the earlier you get to uni
the closer = the later you are

lol thats just my random hypothesis

True! One reason might be because the longer you need (on average), the more variation in the time required (makes a lot of sense -- more random influences involved in a longer journey).

Since most people aren't aiming to be on time merely "on average", they will come slightly earlier (on average) because they need to compensate for the unknown variation!

People studying finance, this is an analogy to the risk-return principle.
