Melbourne Access. Lowered ENTER requirements :)

My sister got this email yesterday. Even though she is 99% sure she is not going to unimelb next year, I find this quite exciting.

Dear XXXXX,

We noticed that you have applied for Access Melbourne through one or both of the following SEAS categories:

    * Category 5 - disadvantaged socio-economic background
    * Category 6 - applicants from rural or isolated areas

This year, a new University of Melbourne policy means that we are able to be more transparent about the selection process for Access Melbourne students.

This means that students who receive an ENTER of 78 or above will be guaranteed a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) in the Bachelor of Arts or Environments or Science at Melbourne.

Students who receive an ENTER of 88 or above will be guaranteed a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) in the Bachelor of Biomedicine or Commerce at Melbourne.

How does this selection guarantee work for me?

If you are eligible under Access Melbourne for one or both of the categories indicated above, meet the course entry requirements and achieve the minimum ENTER stated above, you will be guaranteed a place in your chosen course. Once you receive your Year 12 results, you can relax and enjoy the holiday break knowing you have secured your place at the University of Melbourne in 2010.

For further information

    * Visit http://www.cop.unimelb.edu.au
    * Come and visit us on Course Information Day at the Parkville campus between 10am and 3pm on Thursday 17 December 2009.
      We will be holding an information session about Access Melbourne on Course Information Day (including guaranteed entry, admissions and scholarships) at 12.30pm - 1.15pm, in the Carrillo Gantner Theatre, Sidney Myer Asia Centre.To register for this session and for further program details including course information seminars on the day, go to http://www.cop.unimelb.edu.au
    * Talk to an Office of Admissions adviser by phone: (03) 8344 6543 or toll free 1800 801 662 on weekdays between 8am and 6pm.

We will also be sending more detailed information about the Access Melbourne guaranteed entry to you by post so keep an eye out for a letter and brochure in early December.

All the best for a relaxing summer break. We hope to see you at the University of Melbourne next year.

Regards,

Office of Admissions
The University of Melbourne

Depends, its sort of hard to tell about 2011 when 2010 is most vital now. They change all the time, just like the ENETR requirement. I have a feeling its a once off?

If you fall under those categories you will get an email. CSP means that you can pay once you graduate and get a job, thats what I think it means anyway.

^ But I didn't provide an e-mail

And I am sure not everyone has an e-mail (I do, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make an account on VN =P), but I havent received an e-mail =(

And I do fall under those categories.

Do you fall under catgories 5 or 6? if you do then you should be notified. If you didn't provide an email, then you will probably get a phone call

Wow those are quite low requirements for SEAS students...

If only those requirements were for all SEAS applicants, then I'd be jumping with joy as I write this lol
