Did anyone choose a course that maximised the use of their ENTER's as they thought it may have been a waste to not have?

I almost did, and am extremely glad I didn't. I had Commerce at UoM as my top preference for a while (before and after I received my ENTER), though obviously changed it in the end as IT was really what I was meant to do.

It's a natural feeling to have though. Someone coined the term "gift card syndrome" which is a brilliant way to describe it.

I think last year would've been UoM Dentistry from personal experience.

I think Collin Li chose commerce [as part of a double degree] for that reason, ironically ending up liking it more than engineering.

I was a victim of "gift card syndrome". My top 6 or so preferences were all 99+ courses.

I don't regret it though as I do enjoy my course, and my parents would never have accepted my real preference (music - don't think it even requires an ENTER lol)

Hmm... well all I really wanted to do was arts, and at Melbourne last year the ENTER required was somewhere between 85-90. It was my first preference on VTAC. But I ended up choosing to do art as ANU (first preference on UAC) which only required a 75 ENTER (although I think it is going up to 80). But now I'm transferring to a more specialised degree (Bachelor of Classical Studies) which will probably have an ENTER of 85 - or a distinction average to transfer.
2007 - History Revolutions (35)
2008 - English (40), Literature (37), National Politics (37), Maths Methods (32), History Renaissance (39)
ENTER: 93.20

2009 - Bachelor of Arts (ANU)
2010 - Bachelor of Classical Studies (ANU)
Majors: Ancient Greek, Ancient History, Archaeology
