My VCE year, results were released on a Monday as well.

I stayed with my Mum that weekend, and we needed to leave the house by 6.30am so my brother and I could catch the train back to our Dad's... too early for me to check results before we left.

We missed the train... so my Mum drove us home.
In the car, I got so many phone calls and messages... my classmates all wanted to know what I had got.
I hadn't registered for SMS result (I didn't want to get my results that way).
One friend simply refused to believe my story and kept pressing me, excited and wanting to know.
She believed me only once I got my three siblings in the back seat to sing out "Hi Kate".

My Mum came into the house when we got there (unheard of... family tensions).

I turned on the computer at about 8.30... I looked down the bottom of the results page trying to see my ENTER... my eyes found my aggregate first... I nearly died when I saw my ENTER. I was so happy I was speechless... I was hoping against hope that I would get above 90... my goal was 92. I couldn't believe it. I told my Mum in a whisper what I had got, and she hugged me. I went and told Dad... we went out for dinner to celebrate that night.

Anywayz... I daresay my results morning was one of the more unusual... most people are probably sitting on their computers refreshing the page again and again from 6.30 onwards, or else in bed and get woken up by their results (half of them probably falling back to sleep, haha).

Well last year, if I remember correctly, people who registered for the SMS service didn't actually get their results at 7:00.  I think there was a lag time with the servers or something.

Yup. I registered for SMS, and it didn't come through until 7:20am, but was still faster than the net. =P I was waiting for the SMS and online at the same time, and SMS came through first... the net was uber slow, if thats an incentive for those who have yet to signed up for the SMS service... :P

Wow, what an AMAZING story. :)

Your hopes are exactly like mine (getting 90+, hoping for around 92), and so if I am in the same position as you this year, I would be over the moon. *prays*

The trick is to go on about 6:30am and keep refreshing; it usually opens about 6:45, not 7 as they say. Plus the website pretty much crashes between 7 and 8.

Yep, despite any claims of server upgrades, it's almost certainly bound to crash. It did last year at least.

^ just wondering....i am sure the education department (which runs VCAA/VTAC?) is allocated millions of dollars....doesn't it only cost a few thousand to upgrade/buy a new server....whats stopping them ><

Is it just that tis not economically viable, in that its only used really on dec 14, and thats pretty much it?

Good thing checking www.vcaaresults.vic.edu.au isn't in the poll.

I think because the VCAA/VTAC offer many different methods, ie SMS, phone and internet it wouldn't really be viable to upgrade the servers.

Last year was epic. I was in a hotel in Indonesia (with a new laptop to check my results :P). According to my IRC chat logs, the exact release time was 8 minutes before 7am. I remember I logged in one place where it showed scaled scores only and another place showing both raw and scaled scores. Not sure if they were different sites. I nearly died when I saw my scaled scores. English got scaled to 24.80 and thought  wouldn't get accepted into any course lol - But ofc when I flicked to the other page all was good

Here is the IRC snippet if interested

Last year I did two subjects and had to patiently wait for those. Registered for sms. Got up around 6. Had to get ready for a 7am workshift. Hoped the text would've been sent before 7. Mum got out of bed getting ready to take me and asking if I got my results yet, sadly I didn't at that point. Got to work. Started at 7. Nervous as hell and confused as 7 passed and I still hadn't received my text. Then I got a text, thought it was my results but it was just a mate who was as nervous as me. Finally at 7:15am results were sent out and I breathed a sigh of relief

Considering that I'm never satisfied, I will probably not be happy with my ENTER and therefore will be trying to enjoy this week, where I do not feel compelled to beat myself up. Thus I won't be thinking about it.

All I want for Christmas...is an ENTER that'll make me feel rewarded.

Last year I was hyperventilating from about 6:30 to 6:50 and couldn't stop shaking.  I've never experienced anything like that before, or ever since!
