Will be restored ASAP

Do you think we need a new policy re: this?

The "why do people try in VCE" thread?

That's right.  That's the one.  Like Quantum said, it changed into people why people do med and then it got deleted.

EDIT:

Will be restored ASAP

Do you think we need a new policy re: this?

I think it would be best if there was a new policy regarding debates of that nature.  I suggested removing deleting rights after a certain amount of replies but TT said it was already implemented.

Nah, just heaps of people disagreed with the OP's points and he just deleted it.  Don't worry, it wasn't you.  When it gets restored, you'll be able to see what transpired after your last post.

Perhaps the best way to go is to remove the ability to delete threads - you can delete individual posts, but only if nobody has replied to it. Or PM a mod to do so. What do you think?

Although I am annoyed how the thread was deleted, and that it isn't the first time etc.

I would like to empathise with the OP that yes at times people do not agree with you, and they may start attacking, and they may go off topic, so you feel its best to "start over"

But I read every post in that thread, and nobody was attacking you personally, merely adding to the debate.

Like what I am trying to say is, the OP is not necessarily at fault all the time.

btw, I like that idea how if a thread has a high number of replies= cannot delete.

Yet, aren't sometimes the topics which go off topic/represent MSN style  argument the ones that have heaps of replies sometimes ><.

Maybe it could be implemented (i think it already is from what i gathered) and if u want to delete it, give a reason and tell a Mod? Or like "flag" it for deletion and a Mod can see whether it should be deleted?

Don;t forget too, u don;t need to delete a whole, valuable thread over a few people.

There have been instances before where the culprits posts have been deleted, and the thread kept in tac.

Deleting a whole thread is just poor taste.

EDIT: Sometimes I delete a thread after 5 minutes after I find

(a) its stupid

^LOL, practically about that one thought only. So I still think we should be able to delete. But yeah, what I said inn the paragraph above/before the edit.

yeah it should be after a full page or something, so if only a few people have commented they can delete thread.

that thread was four pages long, and he was able to delete it..

Yes I think that would be good. Take away the ability to delete threads, but leave the option for deleting individual posts. If a thread needs to be deleted then pm a mod.

That's an idea...  You can delete threads only if no one has replied to it.  But I'm unsure about banning the ability to delete your own posts.

EDIT:  Support the goddess' post above.  :D

It stuffs up a whole thread when many posts are deleted.

EDIT:
This is what I was going to post in the other thread

No one likes working. Pay is the motivation to work.
/quote
Most of the factors associated with job satisfaction are intrinsic.

But you must maximise how much you like it. If you work in a field you love then it doesn't feel like work.
It is also a question of how far will you go to get more money. Would you abandon your hobbies and interests? Would you sacrifice family and friends? If you insatiably chase money you will end up with nothing else but work. In the end what can money buy? How important is money? What do people normally so with their excess money anyway? They invest it, for what? To get more money. You really only need enough money to live comfortably for yourself [including family] and to be able to help others.

Would you want to work a job that you dislike 50 hours a week until your 70-75 just because when you were young you cared only for money?

Why do people have the right to delete threads / posts anyway? Just make the Report to Moderator button stand out more and get some more moderators to just take care of the reports.

I really can't see why someone would want to delete a thread or post immediately...
