Got a toothache...can't study!

There is pus under my front lower gum and its causing me toothaches. It's not extremely painful but it is annoying when I feel like studying. Steadily, with time the pain is increasing. I had been looking forward all year to these summer holidays and I don't want to waste them. I think it's caused by an infected tooth (which I am getting root-canal treatment for) and I have a dental appointment for this in ten days. But I feel as though this may be too long. It's affecting my study. If you can believe it the same thing happened last year during my summer holidays however the pain was almost unbearable. The tootache actually caused constant headaches and I had to take panamax regulary. I'm certain the pain now is caused by the pus under my lower front gums (somewhere under my bottom two incisors). I can actually see a bulge of yellow pus. It hurts when I apply pressure to the area. My bottom incisors feel sensitive due the pressure and have moved slightly. It's difficult for me to eat 'hard' foods such as carrots. I'm afraid one of my inscisors may actually fall out off if I do. Is there any way to get rid of the pus? I'm sure that would get rid of the pain? How do dentists do this?

Anyway, what should I do? Should I continue to persevere with my studies? Inside I feel really guilty and dirty if I don't study. Is it worth to get another appointment with another dentist? It would be worth it if I could get one by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Anybody got any advice to help me cope for my current situation.

Don't feel dirty about not studying. It's just not that important at this stage of the year.

Seeing a dentist or doctor soonest is probably the safest advice to give.

What is the urgency in studying now? I would say your health is more important.

It's way too early to start freaking about not studying yet. All I've done is go through year 11 probability since our teacher decided to just skip that and I can safely say that is more than most people in my school.

I would advise you to get an earlier appointment if it's really bad and it sounds like it is. Hope you get better soon.

I was hoping to go through and finish the material covered for most of my subjects during the summer holidays. You'd be surprised by what you can do in 2 months!

Even the PUBLIC health system can see you the next day/2-3 days if its an emergency....pus is definitely an emergency.

Id you don't get it checked out it will only get so much worse.

Pus= sign of infection, and white cells that are dead

Ok, I'll try to get another appointment with another dentist. But what should I do in the meantime?

If you don't study, what will you do? (Trying to find out what you can and can't do comfortably)
Maybe if you have trouble looking at problems, writing etc, you could read a novel, watch you-tube videos that go through topics in mathematics ( I forgot the name but it should come up if you google maths methods).

Maybe I can get rid of the pus myself? Last year, I applied pressure under my gums and pus started coming out. The pain seized after a while. Though it hurts when you apply the pressure. I tried doing this but it didn't come out like before.

I haven't completed root-canal treatment. Last time they tried to finish it off there was too much pus inside the tooth and they had to drain it and put some anti-biotics or something like that. I don't think the sign of pus is a good. There is a chance that they will have to take out the tooth. Has anyone here undergone root canal-treatment?
