« on: December 17, 2009, 03:32:20 pm »
Hi guys

I was just wondering what my chances of getting into RMIT Aerospace Engineering / Management are with my enter of 93.20, the clearly-in last year was 93.30. I do have SEAS.. Are chances high, or should i drop it altogeather?

i dont think you should drop it, as you are very close to the clearly in

Oh, and is Monash out of the question? Last years clearly in was 94.20.. so 1.0 off.

If I put a certain course lower on my preferences, i.e Engineering at UoM lower down in my list (4th) , would it lower the chances I receive an offer if all the other 3 fail? D:

This stuff is confusing :S

it wouldnt lower your chances.. maybe a bit

just put what you would enjoy the most first etc
that way no matter what score is needed, whatever course you end up with you know that it is the best you could have done as you missed out on the ones above.... therefore you should be happy in the end :)
after all maybe you will get your first preference! good luck :)

No. Basically for first round they will keep going down your list until you get an offer.

It's not really that confusing, ultimately just do what the list tells you to do.. list your courses in order of preference.

Even if your 1st preference had a clearly-in of 5+ last year, it doesn't do you any harm to put it as #1 (esp if you've got SEAS)

Ever tried. Ever Failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better

If you have SEAS, and with that ENTER, you're pretty much guaranteed to get in. I'd be surprised if you didn't get accepted.

Anyway don't change your preferences around if you think your score isn't high enough. Keep your preferences in order of what you want to do and where. If you're lucky then you can get accepted. My mate is 3 points off a deakin course but he's keeping it preference 1 just in case he gets accepted
Religion and Society (38), IT - Software Development (45) English (35), Chemistry (49), Methods CAS (48), Specialist Maths (50)
ENTER: 99.15

2010 - Bachelor of Science(Maths)/Engineering(Chemical) - Monash Clayton

I've known people who were 4 points away from the clearly-in get a second round offer, so definitely give it a shot.
2008 - Revolutions (35 raw)
2009 - Further (48), Business (46), English (41), Literature (38), Methods (31)

Holy crap 97.20!!!!!!!

you should be alright because since you're so close to the clearly in and have seas, when it comes to the fringe you'll surely be above that. Therefore you have a pretty good opportunity of getting in :)
