Worth doing the spesh course over holidays?

Hey guys,

So is it worth the effort of completing the whole course in the holidays? I tried one chapter and it seems to me I will be using formulas not knowing where they come from to complete questions, forget them and then re-learn it in class. Am I using my time efficiently doing this?

Thanks in advance! :)

I don't know a great deal about spesh, however I am trying to do the same for methods.  I believe that there is no point doing it if you are going to forget it all.  Try your best to take in as much as possible, and if something doesn't make sense, take a break and come back to it later, or ask for help on here.  :)

You would be better off learning just 4-6 chapters properly, than rushing through the entire course and not really taking in anything.

Yeah, I rushed through the Methods course - not all the material stuck the first time. Better to do a few chapters perfectly rather than rushing it.

0.o I'm going to rush through to understand all the concepts, understand how all the formulas, and skip the questions. I'm half way through the chapter on complex numbers (De Moivre's theorem) and none of the formulas are hard to not be able to figure out where they come from.

i think its worth reading through the book and familiarising yourself with whats coming up (i didnt do that this year though), but dont be stressed if something doesnt make sense... coz it will (hopefully) by the day you do your exam

Thanks a lot for the advice, really appreciate it. What chapters do you think I should do in holidays for methods and spesh, start with the hardest ones or in order of coursework?

Hi there,
Yes that is a good option, don't read the book, try the problems more so, that's how you become more skilled at math.
I am doing Specialist in 2010, and I will be looking at every thing I possibly can, that is the same with all my subjects.
Using your time effectively now, will  aid you more positively next year.
