hi everybody,
i am keen on studying commerce and engineering next year at the university of melbourne. ive decided to put down commerce as my first preference. however, in order to obtain a guaranteed place in the masters program of engineering,  i am required to maintain a 65 percent average in the last two years of the commerce undergraduate degree.

so my question: is maintaining a 65% average achievable in commerce? or will it be difficult to do so.

i propose this question as i dont want to get myself into something i cannot handle. if this is the case, i would rather undertake the 4 year undergraduate degree in engineering instead.

any feedback will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance :D

Yeah I just clicked on this to see if it had any replies, because I'm also wondering about this in relation to the JD at Melbourne...
Is a 75% average that hard in comparison to VCE?  Someone told me it would be like achieving a 90 ENTER score?  And does 75% average basically mean a Distinction average?
2009 ENTER: 99.05
2014: BSci Hons (Microbiology/Immunology) at UoM
2015+: PhD (Immunology) at UoM

I cannot say whether you would find achieving a 65% average in commerce hard. It will depend almost entirely upon your academic abilities and study habits. That being said, anyone who applies themselves should be able to achieve it.

As for a 75% average, if you are a good student and enjoy the subjects you are doing at uni, it should be possible. It is a distinction average (H2A actually, but same difference).

75% average is a lot harder than getting a 90 in VCE I think.

65% average should be fine. Commerce subjects should pull you up a bit, just make sure you get around the 65 mark for your engineering subs, which are probably a bit harder than your commerce subs.

My mate who did VCE a few years ago obtained 99.25 as his ENTER. He's now completed his 3rd year of Engineering and has an 85% average. He's a really smart guy and is dedicated to most of his work. I just think in later years it will be harder to maintain the marks because of how much more advanced the work will get. However maintaining 65% should be a simple task as long as you put in the effort and don't fail any of your subjects
