Do you use excersise books or loose leaf/folders?

I was just wondering what you used for all your class notes during your VCE

This is pretty important as it keeps you organised and in control of your class notes.

So could you please post what you used and possibly list the pro's/con's of each?

I myself used bulky folders and loose leaf paper this year, I found it helpful that you could do all your work without messing up the chronology and being able to organise everything whenever I wanted but i needed a BIG bag to carry all the books. Especially on a friday just before a weekend i found myself carrying 6 bulky folders PLUS all these huge textbooks

lol i was soo determined @ the start of this year to be organised and stuff, and the enthusiasm faded vastly... bought like 8 loose leaf folders. um they are now staying peacefully in the garage- unused :)

Well, comparing to loose leafs, i prefer excercise books better. Office Works all the way, their excersise books are EXTREMELY cheap. like 5 cents/ 1 cent each ^_^ i purchased 20 with just 20 cents :):)
well the limit can turn into a threshold..

Excercise books definitely

Loose leaf rips out to easy, and are more expensive (it really does add up, if you buy those yellow covered brands its like $3-5 each), LOL.

But my main think against them is they rip too easily (happened heaps to me, happens to friends too)

Oh, and I tend to buy excercise books according to the subject.

English/maths= maximum pages, so 240?
Phys Ed= 64 pages
and so on

I use exercise books for rough notes, and use my laptop for all my organized notes. The computer is the ultimate organizing system =)

I had no important notes on paper; I had no bulky folders to carry around. I don't need to bother writing neatly or keeping everything in order when I type it up. Plus I don't need to worry about my notes being soaked or burned or ripped.

I only use exercise books for Methods and subjects with lots of note taking (that depends more on the teacher than the subject). Otherwise I have folders/binders with loose leaf paper (dividers are useless to me, they end up falling apart). If I have homework, I just take the relevant papers and put it in my diary so I leave the folder at school, and if there's a CD for a textbook than I'd never take that textbook home. Only exceptions are SAC/exam preparation.

Loose leaf papers rarely rip for me. But when I get bored I end up pulling off the plastic strip on the side and then it's more prone to ripping.

Also most of my teachers refuse to accept homework in books and I can't be bothered getting both. Binders are easier to tell apart (if they're different colours like my obnoxious sparkly green, bright orange binders) so I don't bring the wrong book to the wrong subject (argh this has happened way too many times in earlier years).

For bio this year I didn't have a proper textbook and we didn't take down any notes, the teacher would just give us a crapload of her own notes so all I ended up bringing to class was a folder with plastic pockets that was about to explode by the end of each semester.

I love Office Works' 'Back to School' sales, I end up buying way more exercise books than I need just because they're so cheap.

Hmm thinking back, the main disadvantage with my system is that I can't access my notes whilst at school.

And I only use loose leaf for practice essays 0.o

Ahh yes! Especially the ones where you can rip pages out. I totally forgot about them because I've never used them before, but yeah I plan on investing into them next year.

^ I have one of those next to my bed; whenever an idea springs to mind whilst I'm in bed, I can just record it and ensure it's not lost forever =)

I used to do that (in a journal which I haven't seen in a while now that I think about it hmm) but then I realised that my already messy handwritten is completely illegible when I'm in a half-conscious state.

well throught this year i used book but i found them to be inconvenient.
For example if i would miss a class for some reason and go next class u would have a page of notes missing and then not know what u have missed, this year i will be using looseleaf because of the fact that if i miss a set of note i can photocopy someones and whenever i get a chance i wil be able to rewrite them and put them in the apropriate spot.

I used exercise books as I liked to keep everything together. I also find it's easier to flip back and forth to review stuff.

I never knew how to organise loose-leafs properly. Do I stick it all in one, fat binder and carry it to every class where I only need 1/7th of the content? Or do I put it in those display pockets and carry those? But then why not just use an exercise book which can hold and display more pages than a display book? Etc.

I've been using folders, but I think I'm going to make a change to exercise books next year because I have a tendency to pull out my pages way too often and misplace them, causing much panic.

When I was at Officeworks the other day I found some mega notebooks which were 420 pages so I think I'll probably get some of those for a few of my subjects.

exercise books ftw! if i use loose leaf it gets all messed up cos i only take some sheets home cos i cant be bothered taking the folder home... so when its time to put the sheets back they always ends up in the wrong spot  :-\ and so it all becomes a big mess! they dont work for me  :buck2:
