Ilovemathsmeth if that was your (rough) routine, then wow that is some serious organisation and dedication :O I tried making a study routine this year but failed miserably...

Oh well, I guess to each their own. My strange I-study-when-I-feel-like-how-much-I-feel-like method worked for me :P i didn't get as high a score as you, but yeah..
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

I also did around around 3 a night since going to MHS meant I'd get home at around 5. I also did roughly the same on weekends+tutors, and yeh, basically none on holidays. I found going out/gaming a crap load during the holidays got it out of my system for during school. Plus, I'm the type to inevitably shift into a routine of sleeping at 3-4am and waking up at 1pm during holidays (as I am doing now), and doing this pretty much prevented any work from being done.

it takes me soooo long to get out of that routine that if i tried to stop now, id maybe be back to normal sleeping patterns just in time for uni lol :D

study consistently --- but don't study too hard yet
if burn out now, you'll suffer when the exams actually come
VCE has ruined my life

Sure, andrewloppol - during year 12, school weeks. It may not be very accurate :P

wait?! so you did this every week for year 12 ? that's so many hours each night.
i really don't know if i'm able to do this for my subjects next year, is this much study in year 12 really required? like a couple of hours a night?
stresssssssssss
i was just gonna do all the homework and then study the weekends leading up to a sac... then study hard for  exams. ahh

Thanks everyone :) I burnt out towards the end though - like some days I felt really sick at the thought of study lol.

This is the schedule I adopted after doing no work during the summer holidays. Unfortunately I got a little tired half way during this year because I employed pretty much the same study techniques last year for my 1/2s and 3/4s after doing HEAPS during the Summer.

I think it's a great way to study during the hols - but DO NOT overdo it. You need to be consistent. Consistency = success.

LOL, nobody has to do that much study :/

It depends on how you are, previous posters have admitted they only did a little and sometiems none for some subjects and still scored very well.

amirite?

I did about 30 hours of homework all year last year (year 11 2009). :P
Im definitely gonna pick that up this year. 4-5 hours a night is excessive every night IMO. 2 hours seems reasonable 4 times per week(M, T, W, T) plus a 3-4 hour session on the weekend. Thats what I will probably be doing. Ive got about 15 hours a sport a week to fit in somewhere too. Any of you guys have jobs or anything too?

mathsmeth: during all those hours you spent studying, what exactly where you doing? i;m sure you must have done more then just questions from the textbooks. i am so confused about how one studies for such long times .__.

LOL no! As I said those times included breaks. So on an average day, I'd maybe do an hour of study, take a 20 min break and begin again. In an intense week, I'd probably do 2 hours of study and take a 15 min break.

I did more than the text book said. So, for Psych for example - I'd read the chapters more than twice for the stuff to stick in memory. Then I'd do the chapter questions. I'd make notes for Psych and write down definitions. That took ages. Then I'd do Checkpoints, A+ notes, Neap etc resources before SACs. Seeing that I either always had Methods or Psych in year 11, I always had something to study. I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well - I'd read theory really really slowly, so that I'd remember all the small details. Things like that took up time.
