Only 4 subjects in year 12

Hi guys,

as you can see, this year for year 12, im only going to do 4 subjects (i did methods and LOTE in year 11). So Im just wondering, what are the disadvantages of only having four subjects in year 12? (should i pick another one up?)
(at first i was ecstatic because there would be heaps of free time, and then i realise heaps of VCEers are doing  5+ subjects for year 12, even if they've completed 2 in year 11.. whys that?) :(

massive advantage is that u'll have a lot more time to focus on your subjects compared to others doing 5 or 6 and this increases ur chances of a better ss. its that 10% increment of the 5th and 6th subjects that tempt most people.

I only did 4 in yr 12 (1 shit score in yr 11, 1 shit score in yr 12) and I got 90+.

Ilovemathsmeth, jimmy999, hard all did 4 subjects and got 90+ (99, 99, 92)

You can definitely get 90+ with 4 subjects (high low depends on how hard you work)

it is very possible to get 90+ with only 4 subjects, but if your gunning for that 98-99 i'd say pick up one more subject if your methods or lote score were below 35.

i'm only doing 4
methods, english, physics chem.

I got two 44's for Revs and biol this year, and hopefully with my tonnes of spare time im hoping i can get a 45+ for english and then 40+'s for my other subjects with so much spare time to devote to them.

Lol I have to focus on being efficient as possible instead of relying on "tonnes of spare time"

efficiency is crucial, relying on spare time on the other hand...a tad iffy :P

LOL i had shit score in year 11 as well. LOTE.. god its too depressing to even mention (WORST MISTAKE IVE EVER MADE) but i did okay for methods (thank god for scaling), and im expecting a really low score in Chemistry, so yeah like you one shit score in year eleven and HOPEFULLY only one shit score for year 12 ^^
Im also "trying" to be more efficient and use my 'tonnes of spare time' wisely. last year i wasted all my frees = =''
Well i guess we learn from experience.

hehe i feel abit better now seeing people with 4 subjects and getting 90+ :D thanks guys

Me too. I think you'll have even more work compared to 6 'normal' subjects with your LOTE.

I don't see any disadvantages of doing 4 subjects. If you're aiming for 99+, it shouldn't be too much of a problem - you just need to ace all four of them (which is achievable because you have heaps of time) or you should have aced your subjects from last year.
Raw Scores:
Psychology 50 | Mathematical Methods 49 | Further Mathematics 49 | Accounting 49 | Chemistry 44 | English 43
ATAR: 99.75

i reckon if your aiming for 90+, and you've already done two 3/4's. doing only four in year 12 is a good idea.
focus on them aiming for 40+ in all& study hard and you will be garenteed a 90+ :)
