Year by year is it getting harder to obtain a certain ENTER/ATAR according to the corresponding aggregate?

No, other way around (because languages and spesh aren't scaling nearly as high).

I think this year was really easy to get high compared to last year. According to ENTER calc I would've only got 97. something, instead of 98.2

No it's the other way around. If I did VCE in 09 according to my aggregate I would have got a 90.80 instead of a 89.45.

Hmm so its solely due to language and spesh scaling?

I think mostly it's to do with spesh and languages. A few years ago spesh went 50 --> 55, now only 50 --> 52.

It shows how reliant most people are on these subjects to attain high end scores.

And how many duds do it for the scaling...
Remember, remember the 5th of November

2011 - Eng - Phys - Chem - Spesh - Latin - UMAT

It's logical that people will rely on 50+ scaling to attain high end scores, 50+ > 50.

It might be relevant that two years ago, when the class of 2009 were selecting their subjects, it was impossible to get a 99.95 without scaling beyond 50. Of course most people looking this high would be able to handle the difficulty of the 50+ scaling subjects anyway.....

So if you didn't choose spesh and or a language (latin, chinese, japanese, classical greek) then 99.95 is out of range

Well, you could get 50 for five subjects and 5.5 in a uni subject and get 210.5 aggregate.
But it depends what the 99.95 cut-off aggregate was.
