LMus in violin, it's my main instrument (I only played piano for about a year, got up to about grade 4 pieces)

Yeah, your piano sounds about the same as flute for me When did you do your LMus? LMus sounds sooooo hardddddddddd.
I had to leave flute because I didn't have enough time to practice... and now I want to learn singing for leisure/musical theatre but I'm afraid of not having enough time as I have three 3/4s next year and I am going to die. LOL

Is it just me or have diplomas become a race to the bottom in terms of ages? When I did my A.Mus + L.Mus I was considered really young, but by today's standards I'd positively be a dinosaur (my teacher had a 10 year old get his L.Mus... with distinction... fuuuuuck)

LOL that's reeally good. 10 years old... as in a kid in primary school year 4-5 got a LMus with distinction?! What has the world come to?

Yeah same, there was no way I was devoting any of my time to piano with AMus and LMus in the way
Now, I'm still focusing on violin, in the MYO, and just playing cool songs myself
Although I was sooo close to picking up the flute (or piccolo )

I thought you had to memorise at least one of your pieces, and the rest could be with or without music, although most people decide to memorise their whole programme - you would have it memorised anyway with all that preparation!

I always thought it was at least one for AMus and at least two for LMus
Although, it is worth memorising all of them (this should be easy if you practise it enough, and listen to famous recording(s))

Associate candidates are encouraged to present a portion of the program from memory; at Licentiate one work must be presented from memory, except in Organ

My bad, I was thinking of fellowship. Though my piano teacher would've disowned me if I dared to not to my L.Mus all from memory

Yeah, that's about right... you don't have to memorise any of your AMus and only one piece for your LMus in piano. For voice-singing, you have to memorise most of it though. Are you planning to do your FMus? It seems quite hard, only 0-2 people a year graduate with FMus.

It's just an 80 minute recital (http://www.ameb.edu.au/client_images/678246.pdf) - no general knowledge or theory, thank god. But I have no idea how high the standard actually is, and nobody I know has done it so I can't ask... plus I bet it's really really expensive and my parents refuse to pay for "such a waste of time" (i.e. anything music-related) so it'll be coming out of my own pocket...

FMus seems like a bit of a waste of time, especially during VCE (for me).

In my conferring ceremony (2009), there was a guy who got an FMus in Trumpet (Christopher Eury). He performed in the ceremony and could make all these awesome noises with it Yeah, I have no idea about trumpet playing at all!
