I wouldn't be angry at Melbourne for the higher clearly-ins, it's clearly due to the guaranteed entry scheme for poor people. If the government didn't create a scheme as idiotic as "let's pay unis to take in poor people rather than making the education system more equitable" then the clearly-ins probably wouldn't have moved so much.

agreed, the quotas uom have for poor or rural applicats is just a bit too generous, i think 20% of places is ment to be set aside for these applicants
im not saying the access scheme is bad, imo the idea of it is great, having quotas this high isnt very fair tho

But do you know anyone who has been guaranteed a place because they got 78+ or 88+ for their required course?

Your doing this maths out of pure interest, so do the maths you enjoy.

I've called up, just need to self study some units and I can jump to some year 2-3 pure maths stuff which was like the shit I was doing before I had stop and look over year 1 boring maths.
