Hey, i have a very quick question that im stuck on  :-[

Can someone please show me how to solve this question;

A sample of blue copper(II) sulfate crystals weighing 2.55g is heated and decomposes to produce 1.63g of anhydrous copper(II) sulfate. Show that the formulas of the blue crystals is CuSO4.5H2O.

Thanks you.

Work it like an empirical formula question:

CuSO4 : H2O
1.63    : 0.92

Yeah, and then with those amounts in grams, find the mol.
Then divide each of the moles by the smaller amount in mol.
ex, if the mol of CuS04 was 0.01mol, and the H20 was 0.05mol, divide both by 0.01
Then you should have a ratio, and it should be
1:5

Hi once again, i sorta been stuck on this question for quite a while and was wondering anyone knows the solution to it?

A 2.203g sample of an organic compound was extracted from a plant. When it was burned in oxgyen, the hydrogen in the compound was converted to 1.32g of water and the carbon was oxidized to 3.23g of carbon dioxide.

(a) find the empirical formula

Answer = CH2O
