ONLY if you apply for a derived score, they use your GAT marks together with SACs and other stuff to work out your exam mark and SS.

Otherwise if you sit your exams and everything like normal, the GAT doesn't really affect anything.

Someone correct me if im wrong.

Umm, I know that this is off the topic, but I thought someone might be able to answer my question.

Does your cohort affect your final score. For example, my legal studies cohort (8 people) are pretty weak.
Will this effect me?

It may affect your SAC marks, but I'm not too sure

Yea, I think it affects only SAC marks and derived examination scores only.

Yep, if you do well in all your SACs and the exam, you should get a 50
However, you still gotta do pretty damn well :P

If everyone else gets poor SAC marks but you ace them all then would your SAC mark be moderated up? Even if their poor SAC marks were the result of limited knowledge rather than hard SACs, afterall theres no way for VCAA to distinguish between those two is there?

If you have rank 1 in SACs and also top the exam for your cohort, then your SAC marks will be the same as your exam mark.

Back on the topic of the GAT - it really doesn't influence your performance unless something terrible happens to you - even so, it's still possible to do well. As some people here know, I scored 50 in physics with only a 44 on the science section of the GAT (I somehow scored 45 in English Language with a 50 for humanities, but the world's a strange place...), even though I was eligible for a derived score - it wasn't used in the calcuation of my final mark.

Not JL (although from what I've heard all of JL's GAT scores were close to 50...).  This guy got 50 in ESL and got 50 in the English GAT.  xD

I couldn't be bothered to post a thread so here is a question:
If say you were ranked not very high in a cohort, for example rank 12, but got EVERYTHING PERFECT on the exams (remember, hypothetically :P) would your sac mark be raised?
