now solve for y



group the y's

take out y as factor

divide both sides by

2010- English, Methods (CAS), Physics, Specialist, Chem.
2011- Bachelor of Commerce/Aerospace Engineering - Monash

lol dont get confused when they use a crap load of different letters. same principals apply, swap x,y and then solve for y.

Yep, thats right!
Also, if you have annoying fractions (like the one above), just get rid of it straight away by multiplying both sides by the denominator (or lowest common multiple of all denominators), this will make the equation easier to interpret

Because (thus f(x) is symmetrical)

And because f(x) is a hyperbola

Therefore, (x+r) is a factor of (px+q)

So, , where q must equal

Also, note that f(x) is undefined when , as denominator becomes 0

Similarly, f(-x) is undefined when

I'm sure there's a better way... :P
