Blue zone is $320 for Monash Clayton. It's the cheapest permit next to carpooling which is free

For a uni student with class four days a week both semesters, a blue permit works out to about $3.50 per day for parking. This doesn't include free parking @ Caulfield RC during exams, which costs $5 each day for those without permits.

For a student going three days a week, it works out to be about $4.10 a day... ticket-parking used to cost $4.40 and is better situated, so I used to use the ticket-parking instead of buying a permit for the days I didn't carpool. But they jacked up the price in 2009, and ticket-parking now costs $6 a day. I also fail at carpooling... last year's carpool buddy was very unreliable, and the carpool buddy from the year before wasn't pitching in any cash so I decided I wasn't driving him any more.

where do we go on MUTTS  to generate this... major help@!!

I shall endeavor to explain, with the aid of paint (ALL HAIL PAINT!):

Log in: http://mutts.monash.edu.au/MUTTS/

On the links on the right-hand side, click "2010 Timetable" and then click "View by Unit".

The next screen is a bit wtf, but:

1. Type in your unit code
2. Click on the SEMESTER 1 option for your unit code and click the arrow to move it across.
3. Repeat for each of your units.

When you've done all your units, scroll down and click the "View Grid Timetable" link.

You'll get this (which looks *completely* trippy):

These are ALL the times available for ALL of your units.
Go through and tick the check boxes for the tute/lect/lab/etc time you actually want for each of your units.
When you've done that, scroll all the way down and click "Rebuild with selection".

You'll get something much prettier looking, like this:

And voilà!

If you haven't decided your preferred timetable yet for some reason (Allocate preference entry closes in 2 days, btw), you may find sorting through all the class times easier in the "View as Flat Timetable" screen instead. Pick your preferred times on this screen, click "Rebuild with selection", then click on the "View as Grid Timetable" to get the same result.

Hey Fyrefly, picking our timetable is just putting in preferences right? MUTTS is just something to help us yeah?

Coz I didn't use MUTTS at all and I don't think any of my classes clash.

Ah, I accidentally selected both lecture time options for MKC1200... you get the idea though, right?

Only select your number one option for each unit's tute/lab/lect/seminar/etc... but if there are two parts to the same option (like, in this example there's two-part AFC1000 lectures), be sure to select *both* parts.

Yeah, just something to help... it doesn't actually do anything.
Personally, I don't like MUTTS and don't use it... but it's not too painful for me to show others how to use it if they so wish to.

The only thing I find favourable about it is that it lists all class locations (Allocate only lists the ones the unit coordinator has bothered to type in). For instance, I know this semester that my back-to-back tutes are wonderfully nearby this semester and I'll merely have to drift from Menzies East Wing to West Wing... last semester I had to constantly leave my macro tute early so I could get across to my Jap tute on time (which was... strangely, in one of the med buildings).

wtf so if i dont know how to do it are they going to do one for me anyway and fix it up?

You've put your preferences into Allocate, right?

If you don't like MUTTS, don't use it... it doesn't actually *do* anything... it's just a tool some people (not me) choose to use.

Gimme 10mins and I'll make you a decent MUTTS timetable, if you're that stressed about it.

What are your prefs for Allocate??

Tell me your first prefs for each of your tutes, lectures and labs.

Here's a potential timetable I've done for you, but I can make one with your first prefs in a couple of mins if you tell me what they are.

MUTTS is God. Learn to use it, also learn to use multiple tabs.

Red Permit is God, but cannot be purchased since you have to be staff. Though I have friends whose parents work at Monash but have retired, but they still get to use the red permit (FUCK YOU RATS, FUCKING JEALOUS)

Blue Permit is demi-God, being able to rock up at uni any time you need to and know you'll get a park, and won't have to worry about if you have enough coins to pay for parking today, or if over-exposure to the sun will kill your dash.
