lol I remember the whole 'you don't really know people, so how can you say they are going to do better than others' thing came up on the 09 thread and flared into some sort of weird inter-school argument that got deleted for the most part. You can tell who is smart on VN (kyzoo, EZ, appianway are right up there and to me all three can own it and get 99.95), but you can't really add people that haven't posted much into such polls as no-one is really going to vote for them, and you certainly can't tell someone's potential on VN (just because their posts do not make it obvious that they are capable of getting a 99.95, doesn't mean that in 'real life' they aren't capable of doing so). So I don't really like these polls in general.

But then they are just a bit of fun after all lol, someone tell me to stop thinking so seriously...

You certainly can't tell someone's potential on VN (just because their posts do not make it obvious that they are capable of getting a 99.95, doesn't mean that in 'real life' they aren't capable of doing so). So I don't really like these polls in general.

Personally, I still think it's difficult to judge someone's intellect (irrespective of how much they post) on an online forum. Someone may attempt a range of questions, but seeing as most of the problems here don't stray far beyond the VCE course, that's not going to show whether they have true brilliance.

Besides, just because someone's smart doesn't mean they'll do well in VCE. So much boils down to chance - as matty said, you can work hard and be incredible, but that doesn't always equate to a perfect score. It rarely does. People also have other things that influence their ability to perform - perhaps some of the people listed on the polls are involved in a huge range of activities and have less time to study, maybe some might miss school or lack the motivation to stay at a desk for hours, and there might even be students who spend their lessons doing more difficult questions and neglecting the coursework out of sheer boredom.
