People are always talking about how 'You must have natural talent to get a good ENTER(ATAR)/SS)

^How true is this?
 Also...
1) What, In your opinion, is Natural Talent?

2) Do you need it for a ENTER of ~95?

3) Does it apply to VCE? (As opposed to the theory of "VCE results = Hard work")

Natural talent, IMO, is the ability to pick things up with relative ease and problem solve at a high conceptual level. You don't need these in VCE, but it probably helps a lot - you don't need to spend as much time studying if you're stunningly bright. But not too many people are.

In VCE, some people need to work harder than others to get the same result. But it doesn't mean that it's impossible for these individuals to attain top marks. Most of the highest scorers fit into this category - very few students rely solely on intellect.

IMO VCE is mostly unrelated to so-called 'natural talent' when it comes to objective subjects like maths etc.
I reckon it's all about hard work, considering that question types are generally very similar
Good scores come with lots of practice

Then again, a bit of talent can come in handy, particularly when trying to grasp hard topics

For some people "natural talent" may seem unrelated to VCE Maths, but the people who say that generally have "natural talent", making it seem like it's all about hard work because they understand it quickly...

I agree. It makes you doubt yourself especially at a high achieving school :)

Yeah, practise, practise, practise! There's only a certain number of ways they can make a chemistry question?

Yup, it's the same with most of the maths and science subjects, the questions are quite similar from year to year
So all it takes is practise and a bit of understanding to get through

i think some people have natural talent, especially high achieving students
they probably pick things up more quickly and efficiently and understand things in certain ways
but i don't think its absolutely necessary, to get a 95+
and it applied to more things than vce

1) Having your brain wired in a way that you pick up certain concepts more quickly than other people.

2) No, if you're willing to work very, very hard.

3) I think so. I think VCE is a combination of natural talent, hard work, good subject choices and luck.

People are always talking about how 'You must have natural talent to get a good ENTER(ATAR)/SS)

Seriously? I'm always hearing the opposite, how people who work hard get the best results, whilst geniuses aren't neccesarily going to the best performers in VCE.

Same, I definitely hear this a lot.
Natural talent isn't everything, practice can definitely make up for most of it

VCE isn't great at testing natural talent, but it would help.

Gonna chime in with everyone else and say that natural ability, whilst influential, isn't everything in VCE.  Still, it's inevitable that some people will find it easier to perform well than others.
