You were probably concentrating on the fact that they were pathetic and required rote learning -- that's what I did a least. My new philosophy is to profit from any situation I find myself in.

I am sure that some benefit can be found in everything, even "pathetic" subjects.

What about pathetic rote learning subjects where you really don't learn anything?..
e.g .. year 7-10 lol

I found value even in those subjects.  I can't imagine a subject where you "don't learn anything".
