Most of the subjects I've seen have decreased scaling :(
Yeah, me too... :(

Is there some sort of scaling equilibrium, whereby the 'sum of all scaling' must be constant(I realised this doesn't make much sense :S)?? So if scaling is decreasing in many cases there must be also be an increase in other subjects.

I reason that to lower the scaling in a subject either weak students are entering the cohort or strong students are leaving the cohort. Assuming that these students drop another subject, and pick up another subject respectively, there should be an increase in the scaling of these other subjects.

More and more people are doing subjects for the "scaling", which in turn itself is decreasing. Interesting idea m@tty, but how can you assume that the subject "dropped" will have increased scaling? :P

The subject which weak students leave should see an increase in scaling because the average mark in other subjects will increase, as the cohort has fewer low study scores. That is not to say that the subject will scale up, but relative to previous years tit should scale down less.
