If you are ranked in the middle of your cohort, but you are the only one who gets an A+ on the mid-year, can VCAA scale your internal mark to A+?

The odds are against you, but it also depends on the strength of your cohort.

Your exam mark will stay the same - that's certain.  But with SACs, it really depends on your cohort.  I mean, I was ranked in the middle of something, screwed up the one and only exam (C+) and still kept my SAC marks of A+'s.  So don't give up hope.  You never know what might happen this year.  ;)

He said that no one else achieved A+ though, so you can assume that the cohort is not exceptionally strong.

BUT, subjects with a unit 3 exam have only one SAC mark. So both unit 3 and unit 4 exams will contribute to moderation.
So, if people improve and get A+'s in Unit 4 and you pick up your ranking, you can have much more chance at getting that A+ for SAC's.

What would happen if we were to have an average cohort (marks wise) yet your exam marks were > B+ with you having SAC marks of > B+ (in maths subjects lol)

Would a SS of 35 be achievable in this instance?

I hate all this stuff about cohorts, standardisation etc.

Just do the best you can on very single test and exam and your final mark will reflect that. Let VCAA worry about all that stuff, as if you don't have enough to worry about during year 12.
