heinemann is pretty good. it is missing some stuff though, like not mentioning globular and fibrous proteins. the way in which tRNA and mRNA is explained is also rather lame.
Photosynthesis can also get confusing with all of those NADH carriers.
I have a PDF of the NOB book. I'll read the AoS 1 section, and tell you how it compares to heinemann. Most schools tend to use it, and even though our school uses Heinemann, our teacher gave us a photocopy of Chapter 4 from NOB, because she said they explain rational drug design really well.

The explanation for cellular respiration (Krebs cycle and electron transport) is not very good, hence why I'm not really confident about it
