I used it 4 yrs ago.. from memory:

you need to * create customer card files by typing in their names phone numbers addresses etc, plus extra info that is optional
                 * type in your business account, so its similar to editing your personal info
                 * then add new stock items to your system by entering your item name, item price, and also, quantity
                  mmmm.. also, don't forget to pick the correct currency... I accidently changed it to chinese Yuan and it pissed the customers off bad.. LOL

then, you can start creating invoice!, just type in item numbers, and you are there, if you can't remember the item number, there's always a list for you to select the correct item XD

have fun MYOBing xD

Edit: also, you can give your customer discounts!,,, and if you like, you can also just change the price on the invoice and it won't affect the permanent price of the item

In first year accounting you should have a step by step handbook/manual that shows you how to do everything.
I use it at work now and it's not that hard once you get used to it. The biggest gayness in doing an assignment on it is that the dates are screwed.

yer ive done the manual part of this assignment and im up to the MYOB but stuck up to now. Also if theres no dividends involved in my assignment but in the 10 coloumn worksheet its got one row that says dividends and another saying dividends payable... do i ignore these? i asked my lecturer he said there may be some rows which are not relevant but im just checking.

yup my tutor said you ignore the ones that are not relevant to your assignment.

nbalakers24- I'm a multimedia projects assistant (assistant, as in training to be a coordinator) at a language services company in melbourne. I just do some invoicing and stuff through MYOB sometimes.

On the tutorial, for one of the detail accounts, it says "Motor Vehicle at cost" - Is that the same as "Accumulated Depreciation - Motor Vehicle" or "Depreciation expense" ? are we meant to include that in the assignment or is it just relevant for the example?

'at cost' refers to the historical cost of the vehichle ie. how much you paid for it
