i think its coz the teachers all mark as if they were back in china...
i lived there for 4 years and the teaching style here by chinese teachers is not that australian, more chinese-style. even by teachers who got their PhD in teaching over here. which means more work.

but i can't imagine how hard it is to do chinese in year 12. glad i did it in year 11.
2009: chinese SL(43-->50), methods CAS(not as good as chinese)

Still, well done on the 43... that scales to above 50 I think. :) How much effort did it take to get that score?

only 100 essays plus chinese at normal school and weekend school.
a zillion practice exams.

and that took up pretty much the whole year.

SLA, SL all bs... my friend from scotch who lived in China and had school there did SL, it's the teachers at your school who decide if you do SL or SLA as the VCAA headquarters never check on the validity of it. Most schools want their students to do well, so they can easily let you get an advantage by doing a lower level, all politics like i said before.

i thought you had to send a copy of your passport for your first arrival in AUS . . when applying for SL or SLA .. .
so they can tell from that.. can't they?

yup u do, but the school checks first and needs to approve of it, when they send to VCAA the chinese VCAA coordinators:

1. they hardly check. 2. if they do check and finds you are not applicable for SL then you just get rejected for SL and do SLA. 3. most coordinators have connections with specific chinese teachers (tutors), a bit of "zou hou men" gets you pass it easily.

So either way you're not losing anything, and most of the time people get away with doing a lower level than they should.
