Does your school stop teaching many weeks before exams?

I was just looking at my timelines for chem and bio and i realised something, we learn new topics till the week before the exam.

So we would finish learning our last topic like 4 days before the exam, i don't think this is a very good idea...

Does this happen at everyone elses school?

You talking about midyears? I can't speak for other subjects but for Accounting we should have finished the unit 3 course about 6 weeks before the exam (ie end of next week or thereabouts.)

Teaching right up to the exam does sound a bit strange.

We should finish the Chem course 2 weeks before the exam. I think our school goes by the principle that we 'should' be constantly revising our subjects.

Yes, Midyears.

I would of preferred to of finished learning at the bare minimum 4 weeks before... but apparently this is not the case.

There are some boxes beside what we are learning that week on the time table and they say practice exams but i dont understand how we can do them without finishing the course..

I mean im starting to make my own revision notes now and revise on my own, trying to also learn ahead but id just be so much easier if we stopped learning a couple weeks before the exam..

Man my school is retarded

EG in chem, we're up to the middle of CH 7 Spectroscopy... and we have to do up to Ch14 by exam time. The timeline is roughly about 1 chapter a week until exams.

So that really leaves no time for revision... and yet, we're even behind that timeline..

We should finish the chem course in 2 weeks at worst 3 weeks, then exam Prep! including many practice exams :D

But I don't look forward to the chem exam one bit!

As for physics, we'll probably be finishing next week, then we do our EPI and other SACs (Teacher likes doing all the SACs after we finish the course...so it ends up being revision for exam aswell ;D ) and we'll have about 3 weeks Exam prep!

Screw your school. Reading the textbook + practicing with checkpoints = win.

We have a few weeks of revision for midyears. We're still expected to show up for our other classes during exam week. Its so shit. If you have a 9am exam you have to attend classes after its finished. If its at 1:30 you get the day off. If its on tuesday you have to go to school on monday. Its crazy.

At the end of the year I think we finish 3-4 weeks prior to the exam period. That will be an intense month. I should be SO motivated, the finish line in sight.

We're supposed to finish Chem 2 weeks before mid-years for revision, but currently we're 2-3 weeks behind schedule. :/

Shit that's bad. In our school you get the day off for any exam, plus the day before as well.

Day before exam we can take off, (classes still run tho, but teachers generally don't do too much that week anyway).

I think we finish about a week before mid-year exams, because we are expected to be studying for the exam throughout the whole of term two. We don't get the day before off, nor the day we complete the exams off, unless you're in year 11.

I don't really feel we really need the days off anyway.
