Could be one major reason.  But it's not just about job opportunities.  You have to think more broadly as well.  Since the GFC, Australia has been one of the very few countries to escape the full brunt of it.  Also, the high Aussie dollar recently means that educational costs in Australia are starting to become comparable to those in the UK and America.  Since the UK and America are more prestigious, why come to Australia to get a degree if you can go to a more prestigious institution?

Oh thank God, they're continuing with the 'Selection Guarantee' for applicants eligible for category 5/6 for Access Melbourne. I was starting to worry about the increase for the Clearly In.
