Health reform: easier to get into med?

So PM Kevin Rudd has begun his revolutionary health reform.
He says that that 1.3 billion dollars will be spent. A few million will be spent on more doctors effective this July.
So does that mean uni's will increase their intake of medicine students? Will it be easier to get into med?

it means it's easier to get an internship in the future when he somehow finds all the doctor's to train the interns (only for australian domestic students not international). medicine will not be any different to get into.

hah and important discussion on the general vce? definitely wrong board.

Move it to the educational rants/debate board or education discussion board.

I don't think so. The extra money is spent on more internship and specialist places as far as I know. This makes sense considering there is already a shortage of such places, and increasing university places does absolutely nothing as you'll just end up with more graduates running around attempting to find an internship, and not increasing the amount of doctors whatsoever.

It will not be easier to get into medicine.
If you look at the specifics, I believe from what I have read he is offering about 6000 more places nationwide.
The finding may only go to specific institutions, but even still, that's not that many extra places for universities that offer a medical degree.
