Does anyone have one?
I don't but my two cousins had cadetships at PWC and KPMG.
What's it like, what sorts of tasks do you do?
Supposedly it's pretty boring work to start off with. You basically start off being a filer and making coffee etc. however as you progress through your degree you get promoted to more interesting tasks.
Is it worth it, working full time for relatively low pay (I think its low pay?)
Hmmm, I'm not too positive about this. My cousins have said that it tends to mean you sacrifice your social life. You're attending uni only part-time and don't really have time to go to the social events of the uni. Holidays are also taken up by full-time work. You tend to hang out with older people at work rather than meet younger people at uni. They actually recommended me not to apply for the cadetships because they believed it's important to make the most of your uni degree and that there is plenty of time to start full-time work later.
However, my cousins are only in their mid-20s and they are already very successful so that is certainly an upside in the fact you are promoted younger.
How much is that pay exactly and do they pay for your university degree aswell?
I'm not too sure of the pay but I don't think they pay for your uni degree. However, I think they give you money to buy textbooks.
Are you allowed to do a double major in commerce or just accounting?
My two cousins only studied straight accounting, I'm not to sure if you can study a double.
What is the main motivation for wanting a cadetship - is it just future opportunities?
Mainly future opportunities because you already have a foot in the door at a young age, being promoted younger.
What is the difference between a cadetship at one of the Big 4 firms and a mid-tier firm (this question is very important to me haha)
Sorry can't help you with this one.
Best of Luck for the year. Hope this helps with your decision
